Today, on June 25, 2021, the President of the Energy Regulatory Office published the results of all auctions for the sale of energy from renewable energy sources in the current year.
According to the published communication, only three of the eight conducted in May and June this year. the auctions have been settled. In total, nearly 37 TWh of electricity was contracted, worth over PLN 8.5 billion.
This year, just over 68 TWh of electricity from renewable sources has been allocated for sale under all auctions, with a total value of nearly PLN 24 billion. As a result of the auction, a total of 36.7 TWh (54 per cent) of the volume of energy with a total value of nearly PLN 8.5 billion (36 per cent) was sold.
PV and wind auctions < 1 MW
The auction for new, small (not more than 1 MW) photovoltaic and onshore wind installations (marked as AZ / 8/2021) was the most popular. 432 producers joined the auction, submitting a total of 1,264 bids. All offers were submitted by entrepreneurs investing in photovoltaic installations. As part of this basket, nearly PLN 5.3 billion was allocated for the purchase of 14.7 TWh of energy. As a result of the auction, almost 11.9 TWh of energy was sold (81.3% of the amount of energy intended for sale) as part of 1,016 offers submitted by 335 producers, with a total value of over PLN 2.7 billion (52% of the value of energy intended for sale ). As a result of this auction, photovoltaic installations may be built with a total installed electrical capacity of over 0.9 GW.
Due to the large number of bids submitted, the auction winners – as in previous years – were selected not only on the basis of the offered energy sale price, but also the order in which they were submitted.
The total amount of energy offered by producers (nearly 14.9 TWh) accounted for over 102 percent. the amount of energy specified in the auction notice. On the other hand, the total value of energy offered by producers (PLN 3.59 billion) accounted for nearly 68 percent. energy values from the advertisement.
The reference price in this basket was PLN 340 / MWh. The minimum price at which the energy was sold was 207 PLN / MWh.
PV and wind auctions > 1 MW
On the other hand, 88 producers joined the auctions for larger units (with a capacity exceeding 1 MW) in the same technologies (marked as AZ / 7/2021), submitting a total of 111 bids. Within this basket, over PLN 10.7 billion was allocated for the purchase of 38.7 TWh of energy. As a result of the auction, nearly 24.7 TWh of electricity was sold (64% of the amount of energy intended for sale) offered by 72 producers, with a total value of less than PLN 5.7 billion (53% of the value of energy intended for sale). As a result of this auction, photovoltaic installations with a total installed electrical capacity of over 1.2 GW, as well as onshore wind farms with a capacity of less than 0.3 GW, may be built.
The total amount of energy offered by producers (over 32.5 TWh) accounted for over 84 percent. the amount of energy specified in the auction notice. On the other hand, the total value of energy offered by producers (over PLN 7.7 billion) accounted for less than 72 percent. the energy value specified in the advertisement.
The reference price in this basket was PLN 320 / MWh for solar farms and PLN 250 / MWh for wind farms. The minimum price at which energy was sold was PLN 179 / MWh for onshore wind farms and PLN 209 / MWh for solar farms, respectively.
