As emphasized by the European Commission, solar energy will be an important part of the EU energy strategy, which assumes increasing the share of green energy in the energy mix to at least 40% in 2030. However, the rapid and cost-effective development of solar energy will not be achieved without cooperation between EU countries.
The Commission points out that the development of solar energy in the Union will require a stable supply chain that will ensure affordable installations produced in a sustainable manner. Additionally, building an EU solar energy industry must take into account the maximization of social and economic benefits for local communities.
The consultations will be conducted until April 12, 2022, and the draft strategy itself is to be made public later this year. To participate in the consultation, please complete the questionnaire available on the European Commission website.
