The president signed an amendment to the maritime safety act

The President’s Chancellery published a communiqué according to which the President signed the Act of July 7, 2022 amending the act on maritime safety and the act on maritime areas of the Republic of Poland and maritime administration on July 20, 2022.

The main objective of the amendment is to introduce a certification system and supervisory activities related to the implementation of investments in the offshore wind energy sector.

Three types of certificates are introduced:

1) design compliance certificate – confirming the compliance of the construction design with technical standards specifying the requirements to be met by a wind farm and a set of devices;

2) certificate of release to service – confirming the compliance of the construction process with the construction design and the design compliance certificate;

3) operational safety certificate – confirming the completeness and correctness of the documentation in the field of proper maintenance and servicing of the offshore wind farm or set of devices.
