Poland achieved its 2020 RES target thanks to a change in statistical assumptions

According to the portal Wysokienapiecie.pl, the Central Statistical Office has modified the method of calculating the share of renewable energy sources in the national energy mix. Due to the fact that there is a much greater use of wood in domestic boilers, fireplaces and kitchens, the share of RES in 2020 exceeded 16%. Thus, according to new statistics, Poland has achieved the mandatory EU target and will avoid penalties. However, Eurostat still wants to verify Polish data.
