On Wednesday, April 21 this year, Orsted and the Port of Gdynia Authority S.A. signed a letter of intent regarding cooperation in the field of unmanned vehicles, drones, robotics and sustainable transport for the development of offshore wind energy in Poland.
The cooperation is aimed at the development of innovative technologies and their commercialization on the Polish and international market. The companies will share their knowledge, mutually support the development of their business potential, conduct research and development work and develop project proposals and applications for co-financing in two areas: unmanned vehicles, drones and robotics, and sustainable maritime transport.
According to Agata Staniewska, Member of the Management Board of Orsted Polska OF Services, their company highly appreciates the potential of the renewable energy market in Poland and intends to actively invest in the development of Polish offshore wind energy. Staniewska also added that Orsted is very pleased that the first letter of intent of their companies on the Polish market was signed with the Port of Gdynia – an important entity for the development of the Polish supply chain for offshore wind energy.
The Port of Gdynia is a dual-purpose port: economic and state defense, and as the host of HNS, therefore security is a priority in its case. For this reason, solutions in this area are implemented in cooperation with specialists and adapted to the dynamically changing environment in terms of technology, as well as new threats. As a result, the Port of Gdynia Authority S.A. decided to implement a long term drone strategy.
