Europe is entering the next stage of common market integration

The Energy Regulatory Office published a communiqué, pursuant to which the Flow Based Market Coupling mechanism in the Core capacity calculation region was launched.

From 8 June 2022, the borders of Austria, Belgium, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia are linked by the Flow Based Market Coupling (FBMC) mechanism under a single Single Day-Ahead Coupling – SDAC.

The mechanism launched today will increase the operational security of power grids in the implementation of cross-border exchange and will allow for the control and coordination of the so-called transit flows and will enable capacity to be determined on the scale of the entire Core region, not just for specific zones.
