Own power grid in the Polish city

Today in Ostrów Wielkopolski the construction of the municipal power system has started, which will be transmitted to consumers of locally produced energy. The first energy produced from biomass is expected to flow to the inhabitants in 2020.

The aim is to achieve energy self-sufficiency of the city by 2040, and from 2020 ORE is to provide cheaper, urban and renewable energy for the first residents.

The power generated by the municipal company Ostrowski Zakład from, among others, wood biomass will flow through the network.

The scope of the first section of the network will cover several dozen buildings belonging to public institutions and companies, as well as 26 blocks of flats. The capacity prepared for customers is 2 MWe, and the potential is estimated even at 8 MWe.

The estimated value of the investment is about PLN 1. 5 million. Energy is expected to flow through the urban network to consumers next year.
