The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has announced the creation of two new programmes: Energia Plus and District Heating. From 1 March this year, the selection of financial proposals to improve air quality and fight against smog will start until 20 December 2019.

The new projects we are working on are a support and continuation of the initiative of the National Fund for Industry, and we are also opening up to the needs of ‘’district Poland’’. We are committed to providing financing to the sectors of local heating companies that have been forgotten, despite the enormous potential for improvement of air quality and investment needs ; says the Vice-President of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.

Both projects support initiatives from the following departments: reduction of the use of primary raw materials, initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency, extension or improvement of heating networks and energy use of geothermal resources and reduction or avoidance of harmful emissions to the atmosphere (related to sources of fuel combustion as well as other industrial activities harmful to the environment).

Benefits of the Energy Plus programme can be entrepreneurs for whom preferential loans (in exceptional circumstances, they can be written off) and loans on market terms, as well as grants, but only for ORC technology (Organic Rankine Cycle). The total budget of the programme is four billion zlotys.

The District Heating Program is addressed to entrepreneurs producing heat for communal living purposes, whose largest shareholder is a local government unit. The total budget of the programme is PLN 500 million.
