The European Commission has adopted a report on the state of the Energy Union in 2020 and accompanying documents on various aspects of energy policy. The report shows that the energy sector can contribute to the recovery of the EU economy after the economic crisis caused by the pandemic. The European Commission points out that the report examines five different dimensions of the Energy Union – decarbonisation, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy security, the internal energy market, and research, innovation and competitiveness. The document provides guidance on the rapid implementation of the National Energy and Climate Plans and how energy-related investment and reforms can accelerate the recovery of the EU economy.
