On May 25, 2021, the President of the Energy Regulatory Office approved the “Development Plan of PKP Energetyka S.A. for the years 2021–2025 “. It is a document specifying the company’s investment plans. It contains development directions in the field of connecting new customers, investments in the current infrastructure and implementation of IT systems and operating technologies. PLN 4.4 billion will be allocated to investments in infrastructure to supply the railway traction. Modern energy supply devices will provide more power for faster and more frequent trains.
The priority of PKP Energetyka is the so-called Power Supply Systems Modernization Program (MUZa). By 2025, the company will spend almost PLN 3.65 billion on its implementation and connection of new customers, i.e. approx. 84% of the total funds provided for in the Development Plan for infrastructure investments. Almost PLN 420 million (approx. 9% of the funds) will be used to finance projects to modernize the distribution network, and approx. PLN 300 million (almost 7% of the entire pool) – for other investments.
The agreed Development Plan is also ecologically significant. Implementation of the Plan will increase the possibilities of connecting RES to the company’s distribution network. The projects also include the construction of photovoltaic installations for the company’s own needs.
