Ireneusz Zyska, government plenipotentiary for renewable energy sources, referring to the data of the Energy Market Agency, said that at the end of December 2020, the total capacity of photovoltaic power plants in Poland was 3.96 GW, and the total RES capacity in our country at that time was level 12.49 GW. A year earlier, the power of photovoltaic installations in Poland amounted to 1.3 GW, which gives almost 2.7 GW of increase over twelve months. Such an increase in installed capacity in Polish photovoltaics is largely due to investments in the segment of prosumer micro-installations, which in 2020 were driven by subsidies from the government’s My Electricity program.
Data on the installed capacity in the national photovoltaic plant is provided by PSE, i.e. the operator of the national power system. Their latest report shows that at the end of November 2020, the total PV capacity in our country was 3,661.7 MW, an increase of 241.32 MW compared to the beginning of this month. In October, PSE recorded the highest increase in the installed PV capacity in the history of the Polish photovoltaic market, which amounted to as much as 737.68 MW. In the first 11 months of 2020, the capacity of photovoltaic power plants in Poland increased by a total of 2,362.1 MW.
According to SolarPower Europe, greater photovoltaic capacity in 2020 in the European Union was to be launched by Germany (4.8 GW), and comparable – by the Dutch (2.8 GW) and the Spanish (2.6 GW).
