More than half of the energy used by Scots comes from renewable sources

BEIS calculated that the share of renewable energy sources in last year’s electricity mix in Scotland reached 74,6%.

The installed renewable energy potential in Scotland increased from 10 GW to 10,9 GW last year.

As the Scottish authorities compare, the amount of energy produced in 2018 by renewable energy sources would be sufficient to power all homes for two years.

The Scottish authorities, announcing a record in renewable energy production, criticise the British government for the regulations that have been in place since 2015, restricting the possibility of building wind farms on land in particular.
