PGE Energia Odnawialna, together with Grupa Azoty Siarkopol (GAS), signed an agreement for the construction of a PV power plant in Osiek (Świętokrzyskie Province). A photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 5 MW and annual production estimated at almost 5 GWh will be built on 10 ha of post-mining land belonging to the Azoty Siarkopol Group. The anticipated number of photovoltaic panels is 16,000, and the plant is planned to be operational in the second half of 2022.
It will be the first photovoltaic installation in Poland built for the needs of one industrial customer. Thanks to the corporate PPA, i. e. Power Purchase Agreements, which enables the purchase of energy directly from the PGE Group, Grupa Azoty Siarkopol will gain access to clean and ecological energy on very favourable terms – says Henryk Baranowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
The plans include an idea for an energy storage for the entire power plant, which will be a buffer suitable for the production of the installation and will meet the needs for GAS electricity. The warehouse could serve as a back-up power source.
Thanks to the concluded agreement, PGE Energia Odnawialna Group is close to achieving its target of approx. 2. 5 GW of solar energy by 2030.
