On November 5, in the Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland, an ordinance of the Minister of Climate and Environment was published, containing implementing provisions to the meter act. Thanks to it, the legal framework for the development of modern technologies was created and the existing barriers to the operation of energy storage were lifted.
As explained by the Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa, the amendment to the act introduces, inter alia, complete exemption from the obligation to have an electricity storage tariff, exempts from half the fee for connecting the storage to the grid, as well as from the fees: transitional, capacity and cogeneration, and takes into account energy storage in the systems: renewable energy support, high-efficiency cogeneration and energy efficiency.
Currently, warehouses are not subject to the obligation to be entered in the register and are treated as generating units. Thanks to the metering act, the obligation to electronically register energy storage facilities of the area of 50 kW, which will facilitate the monitoring of the development of storage technology in Poland.
