NIK discloses the results of thermal upgrading

On 26 July this year, the Supreme Chamber of Control published information on the effects of thermal upgrading, which was carried out in Poland. A total of 373 multi-family buildings and housing cooperatives were audited.

Thermomodernisation carried out with the participation of public funds by housing cooperatives brings positive effects, although not on the scale expected. In the audited cooperatives, the consumption of heat energy was reduced. The heating costs of residential buildings have also been reduced. However, the savings were lower than expected. This was due to increases in energy prices and unreliable audits, which overestimated the expected environmental and economic effects.

The NIK audit showed that the thermal upgrading process resulted in a reduction in energy consumption, however, by 42% lower than that planned in the energy audits, which often overestimated the expected effects.
