Poland and France will continue their efforts to achieve the goal of climate neutrality at EU level by 2050 – according to the Polish-French strategic partnership signed on Monday. The parties will also cooperate in matters of agriculture and economic exchange.
According to the document, in the field of energy and climate Poland and France: “reaffirm their support for the achievement of all objectives agreed at EU level, in particular under the Paris climate agreement”. “In this context, they agree in particular to continue their efforts to achieve the goal of climate neutrality at European Union level by 2050 and to cooperate on a global pact for the environment.”
Both the Polish and French sides support the EC’s proposals contained in the Green Council to establish a fair transformation mechanism and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, in accordance with WTO rules. “They agree on the need to respect the principle of technological neutrality in funding mechanisms under the European Green Deal and reaffirm their readiness to make efforts to apply it.”
