On July 21, European Union leaders agreed on a Reconstruction Fund to help rebuild economies after the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Its value was set at EUR 750 billion in grants and loans. Thanks to this, Poland will be able to use over PLN 776 billion of support (for current purposes), including PLN 623 billion in the form of subsidies and PLN 153 billion in low-interest loans.
The Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy was justified in translating this money into specific programs and investments. Under the Facility for Reconstruction and Increasing Resilience, Poland will have approximately EUR 23 billion for grants (for permanent purposes) and approximately EUR 34.2 billion for loans (for current purposes). This money will be invested under the National Reconstruction Plan.
At the beginning of October, the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy received 1,198 projects that relate to various fields, including energy and environmental protection. A list of 20 of them was published, including Maritime Energy Fund. Its goal is to provide long-term support financing 30-50 percent of the investment costs. There were also six other projects on the list.
