Starting from 1 March this year. the sale of guarantees of origin is to be taken into account by trading companies as revenue in relation to the realization of a write-down to the fund. At the same time, no similar changes were made to the market price of purchased electricity in the regulation on the method of calculating the price limit, which is crucial when calculating the amount of the contribution to the fund by these entities. The above will cause a drastic deterioration of the financial situation of trading companies trading in green energy.
– In this situation, all revenues from the sale of guarantees of origin by trading companies will have to be written down, regardless of the cost of their acquisition. The above will often mean that the entire margin calculated on the price of electricity purchased in accordance with the Regulation, constituting the final income possible to be obtained by trading companies, will be fully consumed by the previously incurred purchase costs of guarantees of origin.
