On December 30, 2019, the Minister of State Assets submitted to the European Commission the National Plan for Energy and Climate for 2021-2030, thus fulfilling the obligation imposed on Poland by the provisions of the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council.
The document was adopted by the Committee for European Affairs at its meeting on December 18, 2019.
The plan sets the following climate and energy goals for 2030:
- 7% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in non-ETS sectors compared to the level of 2005,
- 21-23% RES share in gross final energy consumption (the 23% target will be achievable if Poland is granted additional EU funds, including for fair transformation), taking into account:
- 14% share of renewable energy in transport,
- annual increase in the share of renewable energy in heating and cooling by 1.1 percentage point percent.
- average annual increase in energy efficiency by 23% compared to PRIMES 2007 forecasts,
- reduction to 56-60% of coal in electricity production.
