In response to the question on the Act dedicated to offshore wind farms, Minister of Energy Krzysztof Tchórzewski wrote that the Ministry of Energy is working on conceptual assumptions for the legal development of offshore wind energy, and the Ministry anticipates that 10,3 GW of wind power should be installed at sea by 2040.
The intention of the Ministry of Energy is to create such a legal framework that in the long-term perspective will allow all entities interested in the development of the offshore wind energy sector to operate, including those responsible for supplying components for the construction of offshore wind turbines. Currently, the Ministry of Energy is working on the concept of legal assumptions for the development of offshore wind energy. The change of regulations in the area of energy law regulations should introduce new systemic solutions in the area of RES investments in the Baltic Sea and allow for the development of the offshore wind energy sector in Poland. It is expected that the first offshore wind farm will be included in the power balance only after 2025. The key to the development of offshore wind energy will be the possibility of balancing offshore wind farms in the National Power System (NPS). – wrote the Minister of Energy.
Offshore wind energy will be included in Poland’s power balance as early as 2027 and by 2040 up to 10,3 GW of wind power may be installed at sea, which will translate into the production of approx. 41 TWh of energy, and the coefficient of capacity utilisation may exceed 45% in 2040.
