Ten organizations, including the Renewable Energy Association, representing 11.5 thousand companies and nearly 700 municipalities appealed to the government to unblock the development of onshore wind energy by abolishing the 10H rule, which in 2016 practically blocked new investments in onshore wind farms.
In view of the current geopolitical situation, a pillar of energy security must be a rapid reduction of our dependence on fossil fuels. Such opportunities are offered by the fast and well-planned development of renewable energy sources (RES), including onshore wind energy, which can supplement coal sources and provide the necessary energy in the shortest possible time. For this development to take place, it is necessary to abolish the 10H rule, which in 2016 practically blocked new investments in onshore wind farms – we read in the appeal.
As its signatories argue, currently the main barrier to the development of onshore wind energy in Poland is not the lack of social acceptance (85% of Poles support the development of onshore wind farms), finance or technology – it is the incomprehensible lack of a decision to unblock this sector by liberalizing the 10H rule, which since 2016 excludes 99% of Poland’s area from wind investments.
