The President of the Energy Regulatory Office announced the results of the first this year’s cogeneration premium auction. The offer was won by Miejska Energetyka Cieplna Piła. The amount of the cogeneration premium, which was indicated in the offer of this entity, does not exceed PLN 60 per MWh. As a result of the resolution of the ACHP / 1/2020 auction, the cogeneration premium covered nearly 1 TWh of electricity, and the value of the bonus amounted to approx. PLN 39 million.
Four entities took part in the auction. However, the rule of “extortion of competition” worked here, according to which the auction is won by participants whose total offers did not exceed 100% of the value or amount of electricity specified in the auction announcement and 80% of the amount of electricity covered by all offers.
The support was granted to a new cogeneration unit with a total installed electrical capacity of over 8 MW, which will be built after the auction is settled. As a result of the resolved auction, Miejskie Energetyka Cieplna Piła will receive support in the form of a subsidy for electricity generated from high-efficiency cogeneration in 2022-2037. The maximum amount of electricity that could be included in the premium was 12 TWh, while the maximum value of this bonus could amount to over PLN 2 billion.
