EP voted on support for RES in financial markets

Parliament rejected an amendment to publish a so-called “brown list” for naming and condemning investments perceived as harmful to the environment. The objective is to shift financial flows towards decarbonisation of the economy.

The payment of the Energiewende cannot be financed solely from public funds. The Commission’s sustainable financing plan is intended to act as a lever to take sustainability out of the niche market it is currently in.

The Commission’s proposal on taxonomy was presented together with two other pieces of legislation – the Low-Carbon Benchmarks Regulation and the Reporting Obligations Regulation. Political agreement was reached between the European Parliament and the EU Member States on these two regulations, which will be formally adopted in the coming weeks.
