The Ministry of Climate and Environment plans in 2023 to significantly reduce the obligation to share green energy from redeemed certificates of origin, the so-called green certificates. It argues that the burden on end users is too high. Industry fears a collapse in prices.
The Ministry submitted for consultation a draft regulation on changing the share of electricity resulting from redeemed certificates of origin in 2023. Compared to the level applicable in 2022, the obligation for green certificates is reduced by 8.5 percentage points – from 18.5 percent. up to 10 percent At the same time, at an unchanged level of 0.5 percent. the obligation concerning the so-called blue certificates, i.e. certificates of origin of energy from agricultural biogas plants.
