The Energy Regulatory Office has calculated that projects with a connection agreement already amount to 46.5 GW. – This is practically the second energy system – says CEO Rafał Gawin. The Office calculated that the connection of another 46 GW of renewable sources may require expenditure of around PLN 100 billion for the development of the distribution network by 2030.
– We started talks with distribution network operators in 2020, asking about how they intend to cope and what regulatory changes they need. These talks led us to the point where, last year, we appointed a team within the project structure tasked with the effective transformation of the Polish energy distribution networks, informed Rafał Gawin. – The goal is to integrate renewable energy sources in a broad sense. Not only bonding, but as much absorption as possible. The second goal is the digitization of the network, because without it the market based on distributed energy will not be able to function.
