Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, Ireneusz Zyska, announced that changes in the settlement of electricity produced by prosumers should enter into force in 2022.
During the press meeting, Deputy Minister Zyska revealed that the date they cannot exceed is December 31, 2023, but the Ministry would like to introduce changes for new prosumers as soon as possible. In addition, the Deputy Minister emphasized that for the prosumers who introduced the first MWh to the system, the change would be the result of a legislative process during the rebate system, which will operate for 15 years.
The deputy minister added that the changes are planned to enter into force in 2022, but the exact date will depend on the course of the legislative process.
The draft amendment to the energy law and the act on renewable energy sources, prepared by the Ministry of Climate and Environment, provides for a departure from the current discount system. The proposed solutions would allow new prosumers entering the market after 2021 to sell surplus electricity at the average market price of the previous quarter. The amendment to the act is also connected with the introduction of the institution of energy market aggregators.
