According to the announcement of the Ministry of Climate and Environment published today, i.e. on December 30, 2020, on December 17, 2020, the European Commission agreed to extend the operation of the auction support system for producers of energy from renewable sources by 6 months, until December 31, 2021.
The existing auction system, approved by the European Commission decision of December 13, 2017, was planned for the period from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2021.
According to the communication, the relevant changes will be included in the currently pending draft act amending the act on renewable energy sources and some other acts, which ultimately provides for the extension of this mechanism also for the period after 2021.
Additionally, on December 28 this year in the Journal of Laws, the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 16 December 2020 on the maximum amount and value of electricity from renewable energy sources that may be auctioned in 2021 was published.
