According to the data published by the Energy Regulatory Office, at the end of the first half of 2020, the total capacity of renewable energy sources in Poland increased to almost 9.5 GW, which means an increase by 368.652 MW compared to the previous year.

In the case of photovoltaic installations, the ERO records an increase in the installed capacity in the first half of 2020 from 477.679 MW to 708.019 MW. Meanwhile, the information provided by Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne shows that the total installed photovoltaic capacity in Poland at the end of June 2020 already exceeded 2.1 GW. The above is due to the fact that ERO does not include micro-installations whose owners settle accounts in the discount system or in the system of selling surplus electricity at the average wholesale market price from the previous quarter.

The total capacity of the wind energy sector increased in the first half of 2020 by 122.657 MW to the level of 6,039.9 MW. The capacity of biomass power plants increased by 15.11 MW to the level of 1,507.985 MW. The power of hydroelectric power plants increased by only 0.763 MW to the level of 973.858 MW.
