From October 2, 2019, the Towarowa Giełda Energii will introduce into trading guarantees of origin of electricity generated in high-efficiency cogeneration.

A guarantee of origin of electricity generated in high-efficiency cogeneration is issued by the Energy Regulatory Office for a period of 12 months from the date of its issue or until 31 December 2019 in the case of guarantees issued on the basis of Article 9y-9zb of the Act amended by Article 95. Then it is transferred to the Polish Power Exchange in electronic form, after the expiry of that period the guarantee expires and is subject to removal from the Register. The document has an individual number and an expiry date. Unlike certificates of origin, guarantees are not exchange commodities, and their trading takes place directly in the Register.

The Guarantee of Origin Register allows its members to carry out the following operations:

  • generators receive guarantees of origin on their accounts after they have been loaded by POLPX into the POLPX and can trade them themselves,
  • brokers can act as intermediaries in the sale/purchase of guarantees of origin,
  • final customers may receive guarantees of origin.
