The purpose of the anti-smog pavements to be constructed in Warsaw is to absorb chemical compounds harmful to health.

Concrete, which is used to make anti-smog paving slabs, has photocatalytic properties. The cement with the addition of nanometric titanium dioxide is used to create them. On the sunny surface of the slab, health hazardous compounds are reduced. Decomposed substances become harmless (similar compounds are used in horticulture) and then together with rainwater are discharged to the ground.

Pavements will appear in Wola, Srodmiescie, Mokotów and Bielany. The total area of the new pavements will be 15,250 sqm. The construction was undertaken by Adrog company, the cost of construction exceeds 5 million PLN.
