HYDROGIN is a Polish project of a two-way hydrogen production installation. It enables the production of hydrogen from steam generated from power plants, combined heat and power plants or renewable energy. The pilot power-to-X system integrated with the CHP plant is currently being tested.

Such an installation can be a key component of energy storage systems. It affects the efficiency of renewable energy sources and increases the flexibility of power plant operation. In addition, according to the sector coupling concept, it integrates the power system with the gas system. This is due to the production of synthetic fuels with the use of excess electricity from RES. This solution significantly increases the security of the energy system.

The installation will start working at the end of 2021.
