The states of the European Union were obliged by the end of 2018 to present their plans for energy.

The German plan assumes a large increase in renewable energy sources in power generation – by 2030 it will be from 52 to 65 percent. The fastest growing sector is to be offshore wind energy – with 5 GW installed currently it should be raise from 17 to 20 GW in 2030. It is also the effect of a 20% decrease in the construction costs of this technology. The power of wind energy on land will increase – from 50 to 74-85 GW. Solar power will double its power – from 42 GW to 74 or even 104 GW.

The French plan for Energy and Climate provides, among others, ban on the sale of combustion cars by 2040 and the plan of subsidies for scrapping cars manufactured before 1997. Moreover, the plan assumes that at least 2035 the share of the atom will be reduced to 50% until at least 2035.
