PGE Renewable Energy (PGE EO) has launched a pioneering program to use the horizontal leader to optimize the operation of wind farms and increase their efficiency. According to the company’s forecasts, thanks to accurate data and readings from the device, the productivity of the power plant will increase by 2-3%.

Lidar, which can be considered a kind of laser scanner, will allow you to perform precise measurements at a distance of up to several hundred meters in front of the turbine face. PGE EO experts expect that the new project will provide them with very detailed data allowing them to verify the optimum turbine nacelle position in relation to the wind direction. Obtained results will be crucial for increasing the efficiency of production, as well as minimizing the loads on the main components of the wind turbine.
