On 6 February 2018, the European Parliament advocated reducing the amounts of emission allowances covered by the CO2 emissions trading system in order to promote low-carbon technologies. The European Parliament also announced the creation of new funds which task will be to support energy modernization mainly in poorer countries of the European Union.
