The Commission has proposed detailed rules on what renewable hydrogen is in the EU by adopting two delegated acts required by the Renewable Energy Directive<\/a>.<\/span><\/span> These acts are part of the EU’s broad regulatory framework for hydrogen, which includes energy infrastructure investments and state aid rules, as well as legislative targets for renewable hydrogen for industry and the transport sector.<\/span><\/span> Thanks to this legislation, all renewable fuels of non-biological origin will be produced from renewable electricity.<\/span><\/span> The two acts are interlinked and both are necessary for fuels to count towards the Member States’ renewable energy target.<\/span><\/span> They will provide investors with regulatory certainty as the EU aims to reach 10 million tonnes of domestic renewable hydrogen production and 10 million tonnes of imported renewable hydrogen, as outlined in the REPowerEU plan<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
