A short summary of the energy market in 2020 and the challenges facing the sector has appeared on the ERO website. The text presents the most important achievements and issues that we dealt with in the last year.

In 2020, the President of the ERO for the fifth time announced auctions for the sale of electricity from renewable sources. As a result of all auctions, nearly 54.5 TWh of capacity (72 percent of the energy possible to contract) was contracted for over PLN 12.9 billion (47 percent of available funds were used).

In December 2020, an amendment to the tariff regulation entered into force, which introduced a new tool in shaping tariffs for infrastructure companies: the so-called regulatory account. Moreover, work began on changing the method of investment planning and remuneration from the capital employed. These changes are aimed at ensuring the stability of investment conditions, as well as remunerating the effects of their implementation in connection with the goals set out in the national and European climate and energy policy.

As part of the government’s work on the provisions of the so-called of the anti-crisis shield The President of the ERO presented a number of demands concerning, inter alia, concessions and extensions of reporting deadlines. Regulations have also been introduced which allow energy and gas infrastructure companies to submit draft development plans and reports on their implementation to the President of the ERO for approval even a year later. The deadlines for the implementation of certain information obligations under the Act on Stocks have been extended. The validity of qualification certificates that expired in the period from March 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 was also extended, as well as the possibility of remote verification of qualifications in the period until December 31, 2020.
