According to the President of the Energy Regulatory Office – Rafał Gawin – a special team was established in the ERO, whose task is to develop a model of regulatory policy for many years, enabling the stable development of the network infrastructure that will keep up with the needs of the energy transformation.

During the debate of the 30th Economic Forum taking place in Karpacz, the President of the ERO drew attention to the network problems that are already caused by the dynamic development of, among others, renewable energy, thus forcing infrastructure investments.

Rafał Gawin noted how important it is for the grid infrastructure to match the pace of development of renewable sources, hence it is necessary to create regulatory solutions conducive to the appropriate expansion of infrastructure that will keep up with the transformation and development of technology. The President announced that the ERO was already working on legislative solutions that would be in force for many years to guarantee energy companies the stability of investing in grid development.

The model, on which the appointed team is working, as pointed out by the President of the ERO, should meet the investment needs, ensuring the possibility of financing investments, in such a way that investments are not financed only by recipients.

President Gawin also emphasized the importance of stabilizing the regulatory policy on the part of energy companies in order to implement the ongoing investment process in the energy sector. He emphasized that the main goal of the team is to develop a regulatory model that will enable the return of capital and find a way to finance investments mainly with the participation of external funds, especially EU funds, because they can ensure a socially acceptable implementation of the investment in a long time. According to the president, the network sector needs such solutions the most, and market mechanisms should play a leading role in the energy generation sector.
