The Ministry of Climate is working on updating the energy and climate policy. The important point is construction, which will be based on renewable energy sources.

We are taking steps to formulate a new climate and energy policy, and this will be a significant qualitative change. I would not like to talk about details yet, but soon the whole program will be presented, including to create a new agenda in urban areas regarding urban planning, land use, irrigation and green areas, as well as to set new, quality standards in the field of construction. Buildings will be compulsorily equipped with energy installations based on renewable sources- Ireneusz Zyska, deputy minister of climate and government plenipotentiary for renewable energy sources.

Ireneusz Zyska, notes that climate change is noticed and assessed seriously by the ministry and hence the actions aimed at formulating a new climate and energy policy. In rural areas, the strategy is to focus on on developing biogas plants, supporting distributed prosumer energy and creating energy clusters.

The Ministry is still working on updating Poland’s Energy Policy until 2040 and the National Plan for Energy and Climate Climate 2021-2030, which, although at the end of December last year has been forwarded to the European Commission for approval, it is to be reviewed again.

At the end of February, Deputy Minister of Climate Ireneusz Zyska also announced that the ministry is working on another strategic document – the Polish Hydrogen Strategy, which has facilitate obtaining EU funds for modern technologies in this area.

As announced, Poland will want to produce “green” hydrogen from renewable energy sources – including offshore wind farms – which will be used, among others in industry, road and rail transport and for energy storage.
